Meet the Foragers!
in conversation: Jonah Raskin, author of Field Days (UC Press, $17.95), Bay Area Forager: Your Guide to Edible and Wild Plants of the San Francisco Bay Area (The Foraging Society Press, $24.95) coauthor Kevin Feinstein, and Sasha Duerr, author of The Handbook of Natural Plant Dyes (Timber Press, $19.95).
We’ll have three local authorities discussing (which will save us from tramping through the wilderness together) gathering food, mushrooms, plants for dyeing and crafts. Jonah Raskin's Field Days is a heartfelt celebration of the farm-to-table movement and its cultural reverberations. Joining the dialog is Kevin Feinstein, coauthor (with Mia Andler) of Bay Area Forager. Kevin has led treks through local wild areas to identify and teach about local edible plants. Sasha Duerr’s interest is in using plants for home crafts. Her book, The Handbook of Natural Plant Dyes, creates a palette of natural colors with plants found in the wild and in our backyards for home crafting.
